The CWL has officially opened registrations for its 2025 Spring Split, marking the return of competition after a brief off-season break. Effective immediately, teams from across the community can sign up to participate in what promises to be the CWL’s most exciting season yet. Registration is open until May 4, 2025, giving interested teams a limited window to secure their spot. With new divisions and format updates in place, the Spring Split is gearing up to be a landmark event in the amateur League of Legends scene.
A Revamped Structure: This Spring Split introduces a revamped divisional structure to accommodate a wider range of skill levels. CWL now features three divisions, Rise, Defy, and Ascend, representing ascending tiers of competitive play. Rise (formerly Division 2) and Defy (formerly Division 1) carry refined rank caps (approximately 100 LP and 500 LP solo rank limits, respectively), while Ascend is a brand new top division with a 750 LP individual cap and no team LP cap. The inclusion of Ascend opens the league to higher ranked talent than ever before. All divisions will run concurrently as part of one integrated CWL season, rather than separate tournaments, uniting the league under a single competitive umbrella.
What’s New This Split:
CWL has implemented several updates based on community feedback and a drive to elevate competition. Notably, the “Fearless” draft format will be in effect for every match this season. Under this format, teams cannot repeat champion picks across a best-of series, which pushes squads to adapt strategies on the fly and showcase deeper champion pools. Additionally, each team will play only one series per week, a change aimed at keeping the schedule intense but manageable for players. Teams are encouraged to use the extra preparation time for scrims and strategy as they gear up to “Defy the odds” each week in this highly competitive environment. Other adjustments include expanded roster sizes (up to 8 players, with 6 eligible per match and flexible substitutions) and slightly longer team tags, all intended to improve the player experience.
Join the Action: Prospective teams can register through the CWL’s official channels and are urged to review the updated rulebook (linked in the CWL Discord’s league-info) for detailed guidelines on rosters and conduct. The CWL community and administrators are on standby to assist newcomers through the sign-up process on the league’s Discord server. The league’s leadership emphasizes that this split will be “our most competitive and exciting yet”, setting the stage for fierce competition across all levels.
As the May 5 start date approaches, anticipation is building. Established squads and new contenders alike are rallying their rosters, finalizing strategies, and getting ready to hit the Rift. The CWL Spring Split 2025 is more than just another season, it’s the dawn of a new era for the league, with new divisions, new rules, and new opportunities for amateur League of Legends teams to prove themselves. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this chapter of CWL history. Registrations are now open, and the countdown to an unforgettable Spring Split has begun.
